BookTopTen: Love is a feeling to be learned by Walter Trobisch

This book shook and broke all the tables on what I ever thought about marriage. I’d like to share ten things I learnt. At the end of the day, marriage is responsibility. ⁣

1. The existence of a desire does not justify its satisfaction. The fact that I can doesn’t mean I should. The fact that I can speak anyhow doesn’t mean I should. ⁣

2. Love that has chosen freely is an unbreakable bond. ⁣

3. In a heart where there is room for several, there is no room for one alone. It’s hard to focus on your one and only when you have multiple partners in your head and heart. ⁣

4. Marriage is a risk. Otherwise it would be a bore. But the risk is probably less than you think, so long as love is free to work its miracle. Love is a miracle. ⁣

5. Love is the free and mutual giving between two persons. Free. Mutual. Not forced or hindered. ⁣

6. Being one in faith is the foundation for becoming one in marriage. ⁣

7. True love communicates. Love that finds no words to express itself soon dies. ⁣

8. Every marriage is a unique experience, filled with the unknown and unexpected. Confidence in God helps such a journey become a magnificent one. ⁣

9. Love is not lazy. We must take the trouble – the hard labor of love is to search out God’s will afresh in each case. ⁣

10. The one who is not ready to be the first to apologise after a quarrel should not marry; and the one who has no humor had better not marry.

Which of these points stand out for you? Let me know please. This is a great book by the way for engaged or courting couples.
